1) Looking to fly to Oz (LON - SYD then PER - LON) on 20 Dec - 5 Jan 2014. Does anyone know if there are ever reward economy or premium economy seats for this period/route?
Also looking at buying flexible ticket so can be upgraded at later date with miles if opportunity comes up. Is this wise?

2) Flying to CPT 20 March - 1 April. But bought cheapest Economy ticket. Has anyone been offered an upgrade on this route during online check-in before? Any idea on prices / number of Avios needed?

Thanks,
Nick
If you get reward seats to Oz a xmas you'll be one of the lucky ones. I'm a bit concerned of your desired routing coming back via Perth. This means you'll be flying Qantas PER-SIN which as a OW airline you'll be able to redeem Avios if seats are available but I think they've just reduced the number of fligts between the two, so harder to get. Also not sure what's happening with the code-share agreement at the moment. One minute they're saiying it's all over, the next its all fine (baring of course the JSA!).

I did get a paid xmas upgrade for my flght last year. £1300 was the base fare in Y, about £460 to upgrade the outbound and £315 to do the inbound to PE. This was at the time of purchase via BA.com on QF metal. I upgraded the return and actually got bumped to J for the 1st sector!
