Today I flew my first flight purchased since the change. (I'm on the plane right now.) I am also an original opt-in participant and not a GE participant. When I go to the Website and check, my information is correctly populated. I don't have any redress number or other number showing, just my name, birthdate, etc.
The machine gave me three beeps this morning and I had no trouble getting through the Pre-Check screening. (Other than dropping my phone and being lucking enough to have a very coordinated woman, who was doing the initial screening, somehow catch it micro-seconds before it would have hit the floor.)
It appears, from my experience, that this is NOT a problem that impacts us.
If you were opted in by Delta, and did not have GE or anything else, you will not have any trusted traveler or any other number. I learned this from both the TSA and Delta in December when I had a Pre-Check rejection. I don't have any number, and have never signed up for anything related to this.
That said, both Mrs. TrojanTraveler and I got a Pre-Check fail at SLC on Monday morning. First time for her, second time for me. (I'd also note that Pre-Check worked for me in LGA and MCO in mid-January).
On top of this, for the first time ever, the TSA had issues with my wife's ID, and had to involve a supervisor. This is because her official name, the one that's on her Delta record, has her first and middle name in "legal" order. Because she uses her middle name as her first, on her driver's license she has her middle name first, then her first name second. They made a big deal about it. That said, I only have my middle initial in my Delta profile, and my driver's license has my middle name spelled out, and they said that they had no issue with this.
Given that she has never had this happen, and it did not happen on the outbound at JFK, I surmise that this is a question of how TSA policies might ben implemented/enforced differently at different airports.
Anyway, further data points...
