The SGS is a great hotel in my opinion but not perfect. Yes the rooms do need refurbishing, in particular I find the electrics like light switch, a/c controllers are not working properly.
When it gets busy I find that they do get overwhelmed, queues for checkin/checkout, no door staff at the front, long wait to get luggage delivered to the room. The main breakfast buffet has always suffered from being too popular but does seem to have got better recently.
It is still my favourite SPG property in Bangkok but I do find the prices going up all the time. Especially at the moment when it is sold out a lot of the time. I was looking to stay there this weekend and the cheapest price was BHT8.000++. So I'm staying at the Westin instead this time.
Yup +++ ! Lunar New Year this weekend might have something to do w/the 8000B.
