I am not going near the Club Europe versus First/Business or whatever it is now called in the US. I cannot say that matters are worse in the USA because the seating is usually far better but then it does not know whether it is First or Business any more. Moreover there isn't any service to speak of in the bulk of the aircraft - imagine flying from Dallas to Honolulu with no meal service and only nasty (I have seen them) sandwiches for sale.

Frankly the seating allocation issues apart, which are a long running sore in BA's side, this could have happened anywhere on any European airline. I am bored witless about all this whining on about Club Europe as it is much the same as anything offered in Europe. If you put big seats back in Club Europe you have reinstated First Class and should charge accordingly. The resulting noise here would be heard on the moon I suspect. It has gone from 3 abreast to 2 abreast and I have no problem with the amount of leg room and nor does Him Indoors. if the seats are not big enough then quite frankly I believe that a diet of Spartan proportions is indicated!
