Some of these responses have me somewhat concerned - I'm flying ORD-->SIN via HKG next month using $600 + 30k miles for an upgrade as well - the HKG-->SIN leg cleared already, but the ORD-->HKG leg is still waitlisted (obviously, the one I'd rather see clear.) I was wondering about this, so I called the premier line to ask what happened if the first leg didn't clear. She said that I would be refunded the difference in miles and cash (the second leg would only be 20k miles and $75) between the two. Is that not the case? Not about to pay $600+30k miles for the second (short) leg only..
