My British passport is about to expire, (mine was about to, but I renewed at Christmas) but will still be valid for a couple of weeks from the day I'm supposed to be flying from Atlanta to Manchester. I'll renew the passport at the passport office in Liverpool (had lunch in Liverpool 1 area while I was waiting) before my return flight from Manchester to Atlanta later in March. Yes - exactly where I renewed mine -in person and got the 48 pager and paid extra for 48 pages and same day service.

So, the basic question is this. Airlines like to see six-month validity on passports, I know. But as a U.K. citizen flying into the United Kingdom on a U.K. passport that is still valid there is no problem as regards British immigration and border protection (I checked). They could not deny you entry as a citizen even if it was expired.

Will Delta give me a hard time boarding a plane to the U.K. on a British passport with less than 6 months validity left on it? No they will not bu as the last poster says, I would have just said - going back to the UK to renew my passport. Thanks for any help/insight.
You are as sound as a pound - sounds like you should have "The dog's bollocks"of a time.

ps when asked in ATL by immigration on the way back the purpose of my visit to the UK - I told them "To renew my passport" . The guy in ATL just asked "Surely you could have renewed in the USA"? I replied that I probably could have but visited family while I was at it.
