Every airline already sells extra seats although not at a discount. I have friends who regularly buy the middle seat on 3-across seating when they are on very long flights. Much cheaper than two F or Biz tickets. Each carrier has its own way of designating the extra seat on a BP-usually something like "LASTNAME, Extra Seat." My friends put that BP in the middle seat to show it's "occupied.
