I want somewhere with a nice pool, with spa facilities (even no massage is offered at least a steam room available for use).

Of course PLT recognition will be best (with exec club access, freebies etc...)
You will have wide consensus that Platinum Recognition is GREAT in Bangkok. My opinion, stick to ANY OF the established hotels, those open more than 3-4 years.

*Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, Luxury Collection, some say the best pool, hard suite upgrades (good upgrade policy, but more Plats than suites), but great Plat perks, free flow cocktails in evening at any lounge. Also, including full restaurant breakfast available for Plats.

*Royal Orchid Sheraton, 2 nice pools, great Plat stuff, the most suites of any BKK SPG hotel. GREAT lounge, Full restaurant breakfast available for Plats.

*Westin Grande Sukhumvit, hard suite upgrades (good upgrade policy, but more Plats than suites), lounge has nice evening, but slim breakfast selection

*Plaza Athenee, A Royal Meridien Hotel, great pool, great lounge, sparse standard rooms, suites are lovely, but again (more Plats than suites). Full restaurant breakfast available for Plats.

*Le Meridien Bangkok, The best suites, and many of them... again (more Plats than suites). No lounge, Free flow cocktails in the evening, Full restaurant breakfast available for Plats.

*The W, not established long enough.
*St. Regis, still having brand standard issues.

*Aloft, great hotel, but NO upgrades, and NO other Plat benefits such as cocktails

And let's not forget the Four Points by Sheraton, Sukhumvit Soi 15. NICE SUITES, but you should expect to pay for them. Good suite upgrades, but only if available, and same as above, more Plats than suites. Free flow drinks in the beer vault, nice pool. It may be a lower standard than many of the higher branded hotels. But, if you book a suite, or if you're just comparing freebies, it's almost able to compete as a Platinum's choice...

The contentious issue is choosing which of these great hotels is the best for you. Then we go from all agreeing, to boxing it out in favor of one location or another. REALLY, they're all good hotels in one way or another... Add Platinum benefits, and you're all set.

Pick one and be happy.

If I were to choose only on swimming pools, I'd call a tie between the SGS, Plaza Athenee, and Royal Orchid, all for different reasons.
