In the US, a number of companies in the legal arena--Westlaw, case management software, headhunters, etc.--prefer to hire people who have their JDs. Additionally, many of the admin positions in big law firms (recruiting, marketing, business development, CAO, etc.) prefer to hire people who have law degrees.
