Funny to read this thread. I can't even imaging paying the kind of money this place asks.

First, Costa Rica- especially this area- has a hard time doing four star, let alone five star, so I wouldn't bother heading here with the expectation of anything in the Westin category. I think this is a terrible branding decision.
I've stayed in many places from Nicaragua southward on the coast and there are some great beaches, but I've basically come to the conclusion that the simple B&B style places on the beach in the Playa Negra area are the best option. They are simple and plain, but uncluttered, relaxed, in front of great beaches and price is commensurate with what you get.

I love nice high end beach resorts, but I when it comes to four and five star resorts, there are so many other places that give you a better overall experience than this part of Costa Rica...
