I have been looking to purchase a cheap tablet for the past month for consumption only. I felt a Chinese tablet was the best bang for the buck.

You can purchase ones as cheap at 400 RMB - (7 inch, single core, 8 G). Then I started asking locals and friends about their laptop. Getting over the fact that many are ipad fanatics because of the "prestige" - many people can't afford it so they buy ipad lookalikes.

Here is the problem I discovered.

They are slow - even the well known Chinese brands. It takes forever to load anything.

If you are buying android, so many are pre-loaded with viruses. - be careful.

The tablet response is muddled.

However they do have some great features.

One I saw had duo sim card slots or most are expandable ssd slots (up to 64G).

In the end, I purchased a google nexus 7 in Japan (not available in China) because of the speed.

You really need to consider what you are using the tablet for.
