Need clarification - award R-T outbound waitlist inbound cleared - is inbound held ?
Alright, so confirmed segments on waitlist itineraries are held after all.
I believe this is to T-10 of flight, I just have some CNY waitlist itineraries lapse of their own accord.
Update from 28 Feb – I used the hold on
Itinerary 4 and ticketed the itinerary by changing the outbound from CX161 4 Oct (Waitlist)
to CX729+MH123 as soon as MH availability started showing up at MPO Tsuen Wan yesterday .
Yes it made my redemption cost go from 80,000AM to 120,000AM as the Kuala Lumpur detour took me from Zone C to Zone D, but I got my Business U redemption on the date that I need it (Fri 4 Oct).
I have very little flexibility on this date as I have to attend a wedding on Sunday. End of Sept/beginning of Oct availability to Aus is awful and revenue is pricey (something to do with 1 Oct National Day?)
Anyway, Itinerary 4 is now confirmed.
Itineraries 5-6 on U – I still haven’t given up hope they’ll clear. If they do I hope I can release the CX162 7 Oct seat and it will "fall" into Itineraries 5-6.
I recreated Itinerary 4 on CX161 also as I really prefer to go direct at 80,000AM. I'll pay the US$120 to opt out of the Kuala Lumpur detour option, but I need that as a "bird in hand".
But I'm left wondering what to do with Itineraries 1-3.
I'm definitely not travelling them
But I held a number of 7 Oct seats on the CX100.
They might not be much use given outbound availability is so poor, but they have some value nevertheless.
Should I cancel the waitlist itineraries and return the seats to the pool?
No benefit to me to cancel, but might release the seats for some other FTer.
Any thoughts?
I would do this if I know it will be reciprocated by other FTers. But I think we’re all selfish. Or more likely lazy.
