There's actually an alternative routing that goes SIN-PEK-LXA. The first segment lands in PEK at 0610am and departs PEK 0740am.
I was previously avoiding that flight (because it gets to LXA at 1155am, rather than 0940am). But the A330 J product SIN-PEK might allow for a little more sleep, and the turn is 90 minutes.
Do you think we'd have better luck with a 90-minute PEK turn?
No, I don't think so. Besides making no geographical sense, PEK has lots more potential for air traffic delays, long taxi-to-gate times, and usually worse weather/smog. Also longer walks inside the terminal and more intl flights arriving into PEK T3 at same time, so longer at immigration. If the choices are keep what you have vs route through PEK, then definitely keep what you have. Make sure you keep the Lhasa contact number of your guide or whoever is supposed to meet you there, in case you get delayed and need to inform them of an amended arrival time.
