My grandfather was a Civil Engineer who worked in Thailand from 1956 to 1957, working on the construction of the Friendship Highway. I have a photograph of him standing in front of a monument to the project and I would love to be able to replicate that photograph if the object still stands today. I'm hoping that someone here might recognize it and be able to tell me where I might find it.

The section of road in question was from Saraburi to Korat, so it might be logically at either location, but it could also have been placed on the road from Bangkok to Saraburi too.

If you are interested I have other photographs from Bangkok and Thailand in the same time period on that Flickr account. If you recognize any of the other locations that would be lovely too, but the above picture is the one that I particularly hope to identify.
