For USA-bound flights, security is at the gate. IME they are unlikely to close the aircraft door when they see people in line for the security questions etc., although the Dutch security folks don't like late people, so you should probably volunteer that you ran from your connecting flight.
Try to get the AMS-ORD boarding pass at CDG but if this fails, look for the special line or number dispenser for elites and premium cabin passengers at the transit desk area to minimize any waiting.
The security at gate is not only for us bound flights. Its for every flight. If you connecting from schengen area to not schengen area within the terminal you face two security controls. One when you change the area and one always at the gate. Although I have to say that the one between the schengen and non schengen area is the fastest. And once you are at the security control at the gate you are quite safe as long as another Paxil is in front of you, late or not.
