RDU is my home airport. I never really thought of anyone doing a connection here, but 27 minutes should be fine. The max walk between any of the Delta gates is 3-4 minutes (plus an extra 5-6 to get off your inbound flight).

The only thing I would be concerned about is when the next flight to your destination would leave, if you happened to miss the connection.
