Having just checked that my skis do fit into the wife's board bag, I am going to take helinlouise's advice and check that bag in as my one permitted free piece. Having just had a really good week on my own skis, I would really rather use these over a rental pair. The ski boots will go in my hand luggage and I will, if needed wear my lid. A tool I may look but the satisfaction of getting one over BA will be well worth it! Of course there is the hassle-free option of taking my snowblades which are great fun but always provoke some incoming banter!

OT, but to join the debate Verbier in Switzerland was the most expensive week I have had in Europe but by far the best skiing this side of the pond. Whistler was the best snow anywhere I have ever skied.
