Got the 3 beeps at GS and got routed to the PreCheck lane anyway. The TSA agent had obviously seen what had happened and was just shaking his head and laughing about it with me.
They really need to be most consistent at SFO - most times I can walk straight through the normal Elite line and into PreCheck. There's not a great deal of benefit to it if you have to wait in a 20-30 minute Elite security line before getting to PreCheck. They could solve everything by having another scanner at the gap and letting the 3 beeps folks cross the line and enter the PreCheck lane. Hell, I'll even buy the scanner for them :P
They do have a separate scanner. We went through SFO last week and there was a scanner set up at the entrance to the Pre line. Got our beeps and went in. BPs got scanned again by the TSA guy, but no one suggested we needed to stand in the elite line and we were the only ones in Pre. Wonder why it wasn't open yesterday?
