When I considered this last August, I was told by Citi that upgrading from the no-fee Citi HHonors card to Reserve wouldn't get me any of the bonuses, like the two free weekend night coupons after relevant spend. So, I applied for a new card and, at least in my case, was immediately approved. I later cancelled the no-fee Citi Hilton card.
