I would highly recommend the Kosher Meal. I order it on LH although I'm not religious by any means it sure does taste better. In Y they cater it from Regal from SFO and Sohar's Catering from FRA. I've had a good chicken dish for dinner from SFO and a hot bagel with eggs and cheese and this chocolate pastry for dessert. On the return flight it was salmon fish with good pasta and vegetables. There was this delicious strawberry shortcake as well. The second hot meal was a hot dish I think it was chicken along with a good salad and another cake.
In between meals they served these delicious chocolate bars and had drinks setup.
The beverages on LH in Y is good. You get Warsteiner Beer with a party mix. They had Gin and Tonic, Bitter Lemon, decent sparkling and Riesling Wine, Campari, Cognac, Bailey's etc. Much better than paying on UA.
If given the chance I fly LH over UA anyday especially with their good IFE selections with at seat tv's.
Good luck and I hope you decide to request the KSML. There has been good press on it and LH spends double the cost of the regular Y meal .You are basically upgrading your meal by not paying for the expensive seat. You are also served first and can go to sleep quicker.
I have literally gotten comments from my fellow passengers who asked what meal I ordered. I told them this was the KSML and they were sorry they were stuck with the dry pasta dish. My piece of salmon was moist and not overcooked. The flight attendant even commented on my dessert as well.
LH really knows how to take care of their passengers.
