Suite Night Awards (SNA): choose more than one suite to improve chances?

I haven't had a stay where i've used my SNAs yet but have a couple of pending reservations coming up. During the reservation process where you choose to use your SNAs, a list of eligible suite types is displayed on the page and an alert at the top suggests that you choose more than one type to improve your chances of getting a suite.

on one of my reservations, the choice was between a junior suite which is essentially a bigger room with a sitting area and a proper suite with a seperate living/dining room.

i got to thinking that if i were to select both types of suites, wouldn't the hotel be more likely to give me the lower of the two? why would they give me the bigger, more expensive one if i would accept the smaller?

has anyone here selected two suites and received the better of the two?
