India flight experience
Too bad the writer comes off as judgmental, unnecessarily so.
My experience several years ago:
Indian Airways early morning flight from Delhi--Jaipur. I was the only female on flight, seated in 2A,except for 2 very pleasant sari-dressed FAs. (craft was perhaps an old Vickers Viscount? guessing...approx 80-100 pax estimate).
The flight had originated in Oman...and presumably all of the px were workers returning home after a long year or more of contractual construction labor.
It's an approx one-hour flight to Jaipur.
As we neared Jaipur and the city came in sight, suddenly all of the men frantically jumped out of their seats, reached up, opened bins, pulled out bags and rushed forward, crowding and pushing and climbing over seat backs. The aircraft seemed to lurch (maybe air current, perhaps not). The FAs attempted to get them to sit down, to no effect. I was the only person seated.
The men continued to stand/push/ in the aisle--touchdown was bumpy--and the moment the stairs were pulled up to the door, they were out and running.
Unsafe for sure. I am glad they returned home safely to see their families.
