The moment your name is on the cleared list, you should also have the mobile app so you can refresh your boarding pass in real time - just get up, gather your things and head straight up to F and take your new seat. If anyone questions you, the seat assignment is on your mobile boarding pass. If the GA comes on board and pulls someone else into your seat, #1 you're already in the seat, and #2, you put them in a very difficult spot if they are pulling shenanigans. Also make sure you take screen shots of both the upgrade list and your boarding pass with F seat assignment.

Refreshing a mobile BP does not always work. Last week, I was #1 on the upgrade list with 1 F seat left. When boarding started, I inquired as to whether I should wait to board, pointing out that I was #1 on the upgrade list. The GA then looked at the computer and a shortly after, handed me a BP for the F seat. My first time clearing within 24 hrs since 3/3/12!
After I got on the plane, I decided to refresh my mobile BP. To my surprise, it still showed me in my Y seat. Looking at the seat map, F was full, as well as my Y seat of 5 min prior; the upgrade list had me checked off as cleared. No amount of refreshing ever showed an F BP on my phone.
