My 2 cents:

You aren't a DYKWIA
You did let the issue linger on too long (understandable to a good degree ... being peeved about having to dig through trash, etc. etc. etc.)

The BUT though is that the FA couldn't do anymore. You could have said you accept her apology, but won't accept the 5K miles.

Instead you could have written to Delta about the issue (and maybe got more or less or nothing). Or you could have asked for Flight Crew in charge on ground and created a scene there instead ...
