Best way to contact reservations/change a ticket when overseas?
I have a ticket that is booked in Y and I am hoping to change it to LH First when it's inside 14 days (from what I've read, that's when they release F inventory). Unfortunately, at that window, I will be overseas. I tried a mock booking for next week, and then changing it, but unfortunately due to the segments (NZ-USA via Europe) it kicks out an error on UAL.com, from what I've read it's a permissible fare but needs an agent to book it.
Will they book via the chat? or can I send MP customer service an email and will they book it that way? I just don't envision an easy way to make a phone call (can't call 800 number from NZ, and I don't want to rack up a $$$ phone bill from a hotel on a random US number for UAL).
Any tips or ways around this? I'm sure plenty of you have contacted reservations or changed stuff abroad, when the website came up short.
