Huawei e589 LTE mifi supports multiple LTE frequencies
LTE FDD 800/900/1800/2100/2600MHz
DC-HSPA+/HSPA+/HSPA/UMTS 900/2100MHz
EDGE/GPRS/GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz
It doesn't do 700(Verizon) or 1900 (Sprint) (more of the same non-US support as noted by ScottC) and no HSPA+ for 1700/1900 but may be useful for those who travel to Europe and can get sim only LTE PAYG.

3G HSPA+ still seems to be a good option for me if the price is right. You can usually find a prepaid 3G sim with data subscriptions in many parts of the world. Thanks for the roundup! I'll check out the Huawei e355.
