It does surprise me, about your thoughts on the food. Since the catering supplier change in the latter part of last year, I have only ever heard good things, but, each to their own. Feel free to complain to customer relations.
Same for the crew member. Crew should take their seats once the cabin in secure and that has been passed to the flight crew, which will be signalled by the senior crew member announcing "Cabin Crew please take your seats for landing". Again, if you feel like it, complain.
