Unless one has serrious issues of size vs. sitting space, IMHO $45.00 is $45.00 more than any upgrade is worth regardless of flight length. I sit up front only when it is free, otherwise, I am happy in the rear. One can read, people watch, and sleep anywhere. Yes, I might be tempted on a transoceanic flight -- but not for any more than about $5.00.
