And this is the sole accomplishment of yesterday's letter: people who were not sure about getting status. Everyone else whose spreadsheets are tallied up and perfectly aligned with their Aeroplan login page already knew what 2013 would bring (except perhaps those who definitely had a status and optimistically skipped the MR and crossed their fingers for a higher status).

It would have been much better for this unrest to post the benefit selection menu for us on that currently dead web page, and let us play with it for a month, select benefits, change our minds, etc. and simply state that our selections as of the end of 30 days would be locked in. That would have given us something to do for the next month instead of complain about the letters.
