They are rolling out tower upgrades now. I use an AT&T unlocked iPhone in NJ on T-mobile and I get mostly 3G now, with the occasional sector with EDGE. Certainly within 6 months or so I think they will have most urban areas in the USA covered on AT&T frequencies, which means all the world standard devices will work with BOTH AT&T and T-mobile on 3G and 4G. Very good for those of us who travel worldwide and were stuck with AT&T in the past!

Oh, I know about it - and use an iPhone 5 on it without any problems, but it is still very limited in coverage, and even within the same city the device will switch between 2G and 3G/4G. That said - if you have ever used "real" 4G (LTE), then the "Faux-G" from T-Mobile just feels slow.
