Welcome to FT Melissa Hanses ^

You obviously have had a good experience. I suspect the same will happen for Paul Rolton when he gets back to us with some details!

The problem with trying to answer peoples questions is when they dont give enough information to give a valid opinion or useful advice. Indeed your own reply does not give any information that I or Paul could make any valid conclusions on. If you have the right national passport anybody can leave the airport in transit, but if you come from certain countries you must get a visa to do so. it is impossible to answer the question if we dont know the basic material.

For instance I cannot tell if you or he have a UK or US or EU passport- which would allow you to whisk through, or a Somalia or Iranian or Zimbabwe one which would create much more problems.

The rules are here:
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/vi...nsit-landside/
There are "transit without visa" rules under the More Information section at the bottom.
