I bought the sweat shields shirts and will report after I try them out. Even though it's "winter" here the bearable temperatures have gone. It was mid-80's during my commute. And is about 90 at lunch, and very humid. Nighttime is also 80's
Again wicking in this climate isn't very useful, and especially if I need to wear a dress shirt to the office. Wicking in high humidity just means a wet shirt since the air too humid for evaporation. I'll check out the Uniqlo stuff, but I doubt it will help as others have said, since it just wicks the sweat into my dress shirt.
My co-workers are all Thai, so they don't have the same sweating issue. I'm the type that starts to sweat over 72 degrees. Much lower threshold than the average person. I'm the only other farang in the office, and the other guy has lived here for 15 years, and he's European. Europeans are the first to turn off the AC, and sit outside in Thailand. I'll never understand that. I don't think I can wear short sleeve shirts due to my position. This whole thread started because I was told I couldn't wear my Adidas Clima-Cool golf shirt, that looks very presentable, to the office.
Also as for acclimating, I've been coming to SE Asia 2-3 times a year for 2-4 weeks at a time, and my body never in any way adjusted. And I've met other foreigners who sweat alot like me and they said their bodies never adjusted even after a decade of living here. So i don't think acclimation is a guarantee.
well thanks for all your input, and i'll report back on the sweat shield undershirts. And if they don't work out for me I'll try some of the other suggestions here.
