The biggest problem with most of these Chinese routers and hotspots is support for US frequencies. Almost none support T-Mobile on 1700MHz, they usually lack LTE and it is near impossible to find any that do Verizon or Sprint CDMA/EVDO/LTE.

Verizon sells hotspots for $120 at Walmart, and they are just rock solid little devices.

That said, the Asus router is high on my "want" list.
