Singapore (3 nights)
Malacca (1 night)
Kuala Lumpur (2 nights)
Penang (1 night)
Langkawi (6 nights)

I would like to travel between the destinations with private car transfers and by ferry from Penang to Langkawi. At the end of the trip, we plan to fly from Langkawi to SIN and back to Europe.

I would appreciate following feedback:
- Is May a good/suitable travel time?
- Does the itinerary make sense (stress should be minimized)
- Any other stops we should make on the way?
- Is the ferry a safe/suitable/comfortable mean of transportation? Are there better/worse ferry companies? Or is it better to take a plane?
Frankly, I would fly from Penang to Langkawi - the ferry can be a pretty rough trip. I would also expand your Penang stay - Georgetown is a fascinating place with lots of emerging luxury boutique hotels (don't bother staying up in the beach area since you'll be going on to Langkawi anyway).
