Luggage Interlining should work. BA would check through - even if on separate tickets if in Oneworld alliance. I do not know about AB, but I think your chances are very high. Just find a competent agent to check in. Checking through should be the norm. Not checking is one of these modern cost saving and customer annoying habits.
