I got my first choice on all flights, but then again I was in row 1 or 2.
If you are seating toward the front of the plane, you are guaranty to have your first choice, why FA needs to ask you for 2nd choice! I wouldn't ask pax for second choice until I need to reserve the first choice for GS/1K who seat at the back of the cabin. Unless the whole cabin is full of GS and 1K then there is no need to ask anyone at all. Just front to back as it is.
