Advice from my mother, a regular on the LHR-SFO route in F.
(1) Eat in the CCR at LHR
(2) Work/Read and delay the meal a little on board, then watch a film and have a short nap (ideally leaving yourself awake with 4-5hrs to run (equivalent of a late lie in SFO time)
(3) Stay awake through to landing and on arrival. Do not sleep on landing
(4) Arrive at hotel, check-in, head out immediately to stretch the legs
(5) Early light meal [they eat early anyway in the US] and head to bed by 10pm local
You might be up early the following day, but for her, that does the trick.
