Finally found a store that still had VR on the racks (the rest near me were empty) and as I went to the cashier to buy two (no self-serve unfortunately at this one) he immediately took them and said that they've been "recalled" and that he couldn't sell them to me anymore. He mentioned a national policy and then proceeded to go to the rack and grabbed all the VR still there and took them to the back. Wasn't going to push it with him, but not a good sign out here on the West Coast.
No offense and I may be wrong (hopefully not) but we've had all sorts of stories given by clerks on why they can't sell VRs. Some may not want the liability on their shifts and others may have been shut down by corporate. This is probably just an isolated case.
