Just returned from Budapest and stayed 4 nights at the Marriott. Stayed in rm 742 which had a view of castle hill as well as Gellert Hill (citadel). I stayed on a a combined points and paid visit.
I found the room to be standard FS Marriott with (2) robes / slippers and, safe in closet (yes, very large safe). On check in offered the choice of pts or gift. When I asked about the gift they provided a menu of items that you could select 2 choices from. I went with the local wine (red, full size bottle) and cheese / fruit plate.
The executive lounge is nice given the large patio and views. Was never crowed when I was there but I am sure this is a slow time of year for the hotel. The evening service was with one hot plate and small individual tasting dish good selection but not great. Drinks as already stated were local red and white wine, 2 types of bottled beer and selection of spirits but not top shelf, gordon for gin and smirnoff for vodka, don't remember the whiskey and rum types. This was served from 1730 hrs until 1930 hrs but it always was ready by 1700 hrs during my stay. 2 I-terminals with printers in the lounge (wireless in lounge free of charge).
In room internet is iban and I used my phone, laptop and ipad each day and on check out no charges. FD indicated you could have as many devices as you wanted free of charge as long as Plat or Gold.
I would stay here if it is a first visit to Budapest (this is on the Pest side of the Danube) as it is close to many of the major site seeing attractions. You can easily walk from the hotel over the chain bridge to see castle hill and gellert hill attractions as well as St Stephens cathedral, Jewish quarter, etc.
Free walking tour of Budapest meets up very close to the hotel too and would recommend it, you can find more on it by doing a search on tripadvisor.
Excellent review..thank you.
