So I've had a few different experiences, and I'm curious if there is a "right way" to do this.
I've entered the USA a few times with friends at a few different airports. The first time a friend and I approached the CBP officer together, but were told we would be processed separately (and ended up getting directed to separate officers as well).
On another trip with a friend, we were asked if we were travelling together and directed up together by one of the officers channeling people to different stations.
When entering Canada we queued in separate lines, but were firmly told that if you are travelling together you should approach the officer together.
So I'm confused
Does anyone know what the right way to approach this is for both the USA and Canadian borders?
Seems trivial I know, but I do like to start my immigration process on the right foot and not get told off after a long plane flight
