My first BA flight -- some questions including no middle seat on one half of plane??

Hey guys, hope all is well. I am flying my first BA flight tomorrow and while I fly domestically all the time and international travel isn't new, I feel like I am learning a whole new system with BA here.

First off, on the London to Rome leg (BA 0546 for this Wednesday), I checked me and a friend in and the first row to select from was row 6, which had only had the aisle and window seat to choose from with nothing showing in the middle. On the right hand side of row 6 though they DO have a middle?? I tried to investigate on seat guru, the only thing I can GUESS is that they took out the middle seat and put a table there?? can anyone confirm that we wont have a random stranger sitting in between us?? why would only have the row have this club europe conversion or whatnot? also does anything nice come with club europe?? we didn't pay extra for this economy plus ish service/area... that I am assuming we're now in anyhow

Also... anyone know the change policies?? We're thinking about flying back now from like Venice instead so we dont have to take a train there and then back to Rome just for the hell of it... is it gonna cost us and will it be pricy?

Lastly has anyone heard of many disruptions due to the snow affecting Los Angeles to London and London to Rome?? (the main airports, i.e. heathrow) I know lots of other areas are messing things up everywhere but didn't personally see too many mentions of legs between rome and LAX to Heathrow...

Any other BA specific tips are also welcome!! I know how to fly and navigate an airport lol but unaware of anything else special different with BA than your typical Delta or whatnot
