How many ways are there to leave dirty trays and peanuts in the seats?

To address concerns about the cleanliness of some of our aircraft cabins, a Six Sigma workout was recently conducted to help develop one common standard to be used on all Air Canada aircraft no matter where they are groomed. Formerly, there were nine separate standards and nine auditing/reporting methods. This multi-branch workout included representatives from Airports, In-flight Services, Marketing and Technical Services.

The resulting one standard, four events (through, turn, overnight and super-enhances) procedure was implemented in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal overnight on Feb. 2.

It will continue to be rolled out to the Airport B and C stations later this month. Congratulations to everyone involved in getting this done.

By simplifying the process, we meet our mandate to improve customer satisfaction and engage employees.

Looking forward to cleaner planes.
