Security at E can be slow at peak times so don't leave too late. You can wait in the schengen area beforehand if you wish (E doesn't have much).
There is no more security at the E terminal. All security is centralized, just after the checking (1 or 2). The passport control is done within the main terminal too. Once you reach E, indeed, there not a lot of shops/lounges.
After passing security, you can enjoy the terminal A/B, shops, restaurant and their lounges. Then go to passport control, take the train and end up at terminal E. This will take between 5 to 15 minutes.
