Yes I watched that the other night, very interesting. Half of the UK's Birds and Ducks died and some species apparently reverted to cannabalism!

I recall my father being laid off for 8 weeks (he was an Engineer in the Construction Industry) in the early/mid 70's during a very bad winter. Spam and potatoes it was on the table back at that time but granted there were far fewer cars and air journeys back then. Life seemed much simpler back then in many ways and folks were more much more tolerant as well, imo.
