I had a discounted Economy ticket from Phoenix to LHR that I have upgraded to WT+ for cash using MMY on BA.com. In my account it now shows as a 'P' class which I think is a redemption class, this is not a miles redemption, is this normal?

I was wondering if i could use Avios to go from WT+ to club but the selling class leads me to believe I won't be able to do this, is this correct?
