If UA wants to bring 3904 back to IAH or LAX what can of permission do they need from the FAA. Will the FAA even let them do this. Does Grounded mean absolote Grounding, ferry flights included.
The airlines can, and do, get special ferry permits for flights in which the airplane is in some way not normally allowed to fly. The repair work will be done by the airlines, once the repair is determined.
