I speak only from Hampton experience, but since HGI is basically copying us at every turn, I'm sure it applies to both.

1) The fresh baked cookies waiting in the lobby/ at the front desk/ wherever? Not a brand standard except for at DT. It's become an expectation at HGI and Hampton, so that's why you keep seeing them.

2) Gold and Diamond My Way amenities: By January 31, we're done with the "bottle of water pack of cookies" in the room. You still have a choice of snack or points, but the new snack offerings are going to be pretty killer. You'll get a choice of: Bottled water, Vitamin water XXX or Fresca AND gummy bears, Planter's trail mix, Toblerone, or Kashi trail mix.

The hot cookies at reception are unrelated.
