I think I'll do the same as you and get the spend as soon as I can to give it enough time if there are problems.

I'm in a similar position with the free night voucher. In an ideal world I'd like use it in the Autumn, but as I will hit the £750 by the end of this month it is likely to expire too early for that. Still, I will just have to fit something in during June or something.
