I called the AA platinum line and they informed me that since i was platinum i would be able to pick seats on Iberia or BA (the flights im considering). This may not be the case if not at least platinum.

Also mentioned,
1)that if use AA marketed/but other operator, would get 100% miles plus elite bonus etc. This is not guaranteed if book with Iberia or BA marketed flight.
2)that the only way to use earned upgrades or bought upgrades is on AA marketed AND operated flight
