You can park for free in the neighborhood for a couple of days and then take airtrain in without needing to pay.

You can also avoid the airtrain surcharge the same way. Just get off at the second-to-last stop before the subway connection and either take a bus or walk for 15 mins (I have done it when I had nowhere to rush and had no bags).
